Selma U. coach Adrian Holloway said the contest against Alabama A&M, a Division I school and member of the SWAC, was a challenge for the Bulldogs.

“It was a big test for us,” Holloway said. “It was a game to see where we stand and prepare us for the high level of competition. My guys didn’t shy away. We wanted them to be confident going in. If you want to be  the best, you have to beat the best.

“It was important for us to come out and play our style of ball,” Holloway continued. “Don’t back down, don’t be nervous, don’t be timid. Just come out and play some fundamentally sound baseball. The guys came through and we sealed the deal. I’m so proud of these guys. They represent the program very well. I couldn’t do what I do without these players.”

The Bulldogs reached the 2018 USCAA Small College World Series last year at Shower Field in Dubois, Pennsylvania.
