Selma police detectives have arrested two local men and charged them with murder in connection with the Feb. 15 shooting and beating death of Peter Hatcher.

Undray Allen, 31, and Christopher Wilmer, 27, were arrested over the weekend and charged with murder. Both are in the Dallas County Jail under $1 million bond each.

Authorities said Hatcher was beaten with a chain and shot while he was on the ground. Hatcher suffered gunshot wounds to the back and the bottom of his foot. He also suffered a head fracture.

This makes the third arrest in the case.

Mark Anthony Cleveland was charged with murder and first-degree possession of marijuana three days after the shooting.

Cleveland remains in the Dallas County Jail under $1 million bond.

Police Detective Beauty Benjamin said Allen and Wilmer are believed to have participated in the beating of Hatcher.

Benjamin also said Wilmer is suspected of shooting Hatcher.

In January, Wilmer was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. No disposition is available on that particular case.

Cleveland has already told officers he fired a shot during the scuffle, according to Benjamin’s testimony in Dallas County District Court last week.

Cleveland appeared for a bond hearing last Thursday. District Judge Bob Armstrong declined to lower Cleveland’s bond, saying the violence in Selma has become “outrageous.”

Cleveland is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 17.
