The Selma Rotary Club announced their scholarship recipient on Monday.

Dallas County High School senior Preston McGee turned out to be the recipient.

His drive to become a public servant is admirable as are all the other students that submitted applications for this scholarship.

Scholarships are no easy thing to obtain.

There is a lot of work required based on what the scholarship is.

From essays to numerous short answer questions, there are a lot of hoops to jump through, but the hard work is definitely worth it.

With college costs rising, students need all the financial aid help they can get. Financial aid that is not expected to be re-paid is also important.

The work these students have put into their future is admirable regardless of the outcome for each because they each took a chance and the work in to at least try.

There are so many students who are overwhelmed by the scholarship process that they don’t even get started.

These students are an example to their peers in showing what hard work does for your future.
