More than a 3-day weekend-Important to remember the fallen

As people return to work today from a weekend at the lake or time grilling out with friends and family, it is important to remember the reason why we have this time.

Memorial Day remains a holiday which most businesses observe and marks the unofficial beginning of summer.

Rev. Steven Kopp spoke to an assembly on Monday at Memorial Field where people gathered to remember all of those that have been lost during service.

“There’s many barbeques held on this day,” said Kopp, “Some people even go to the beach and celebrate. But it’s because of the sacrifices that these men and women made in their lives that we have the freedom to have three-day-weekends, barbeques and trips to the beach.”

Let us not forget the sacrifices that have been made so that we can have the freedoms that we have now.

The remembrance of those we have lost should go even beyond the three day weekend that most of us celebrate.

Remembering those who have given everything for us should be a daily thing.

Never forget the sacrifice.
