It’s that time of the year again as local farmers will gather at Bloch Park from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to sell their goods for the general public at the Dallas County Farmers Market.
There’s so much to see at the Farmer’s Market.
There’s more than just the expected food.
Dallas County Farmers Market Co-Manager Randall Chandler says that shoppers can expect to find a little of everything including plants, flowers and farm fresh eggs in addition to the expected fruits and vegetables.
The market will be every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until Nov. 15.
Raymond Saul of the Farmer’s Market Coalition said in 2011 Farmer’s markets are cost-effective for farmers because “they provide brief periods of intense retail sales with low fixed costs … they are the critical component for local food producers, farmers markets make farming profitable. By making farming profitable, we preserve farmland and farmers and have encouraged a new generation to take up farming.”
One of Dallas County’s components is farming.
Many of us know local farmers and those relationships we have formed with them can be made stronger by supporting their hard work.
