Author Mary Cole stopped by the Selma – Dallas County Public Library yesterday to sign copies of her book, “A Little About Life and a lot of Wisdom from God”.
Cole, born in Autauga County and raised in Marion Junction, worked in a bank and as a hairstylist before embarking on her journey to become a published author.
According to Cole, she began writing the book years ago, but then came to a halt due to one of three battles with cancer.
After recovering, Cole tackled the project at full force, completing her debut work at the end of 2018 and finally released the book earlier this year.
“A Little About Life and a lot of Wisdom from God” is, as Cole puts it, a book full of God’s wisdom and good common sense.
In her book, Cole asks the Question, “What happened to good common sense?”
Cole, who says she “Finished the 12th grade with a first-grade education” believes deeply in the power of education, but puts having a good head on your shoulders above all else.
“Good common sense can carry you a long way,” said Cole. “I believe deeply in education, but you have to have good common sense and God’s wisdom to carry you through life.”
Cole stresses the difference between worldly wisdom and God’s wisdom in one of her books 35 chapters.
“There’s the wisdom of the world, and there’s the wisdom of God,” said Cole. “And the best wisdom you can receive is from God.”
For those who didn’t get the chance to see Cole yesterday, she will be at the Selma – Dallas County Public Library again today from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to share her life story and sign copies of her book.
