The city of Orrville held its fourth annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration on Thursday night.
Several residents filled the Orrville Community Center to watch the hour-long fireworks show hosted by the Orrville City Council.
Orrville Councilwoman Jewell Williamson said the city spent years discussing having its own fireworks show.
“It was something we wanted to do for a long time and we made it happen,” Williamson said. “We’ve had wonderful success with the fireworks show.”
“A lot goes into having a good firework show,” Orrville Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin said. “It’s a nice family environment.”
Lumpkin’s husband, Orrville Councilman William Lumpkin Sr., said the fireworks display
Keith High football and baseball head coach Anthony Lumpkin, two deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Orrville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Will Grimes assisted with the fireworks display.
“We used to drive to Selma and watch their fireworks display at Memorial Stadium,” Grimes said. “I think it’s great that Orrville has its own fireworks display.”
