The first “Medical Matters” lecture at the Selma-Dallas County is scheduled to take place this Friday, Sept. 6, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The product of a collaboration between UAB Family Medicine – Selma, Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the library, these “Medical Matters” lectures are an effort to bring to the community additional resources for healthy living at an easily accessible and well known location, the library.
“The library is the perfect forum, of course,” said library director Becky Nichols. “It’s a good central place, everyone loves it and everyone knows where it is.”
The topic of the first “Medical Matters” lecture on Friday is “Healthy Living: Aging Well”.
Dr. Dunni Adetoba, M.D. will be at the library to provide attendees with information about staying healthy during aging. Attendees will learn all about medications to avoid and advanced directives as well as be able to take preventative screening and receive a health age calculator assessment.
Following the lecture, there will be a question and answer session in which attendees will be able to ask Adetoba any remaining questions they may have about aging in a healthy manner.
“They get to ask what they want,” said Adetoba. “This also gives us the opportunity to find out what else they would like to know from their doctors.”
The “Medical Matters, Healthy Living: Aging Well” lecture will be held in the Vaughan Room at the Selma – Dallas County Public Library from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The event is completely free to attend and requires no registration.
The first 25 attendees will receive a free sack lunch provided by Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
