Southside coach Charles Moody has a simple formular for the Panthers’ success, especially on homecoming.

“We’re just trying to get better every game,” Moody said. “That’s what we’re trying to do.”

The Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead on touchdown runs from KeAndre Williams and Mar-Keis Cole.

Southside scored 30 second quarter points, increasing its lead to 42-0 at halftime.

Thomas threw touchdown passes of 25 and 20 yards to Ernest Hatcher. Maryion Johnson caught the other touchdown pass. Williams also scored in the second quarter.

“Since the spring, I’ve worked hard during the summer,” Thomas said.

By the time PCA avoided a shutout in the fourth quarter, Southside was playing its reserves. Backup quarterback Jarrett Barnett threw a 80-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Kennedy. Trendarius Carter also scored on a 70-yard touchdown run.

Williams finished with 110 yards and two touchdowns.

“The offensive line did great and Christopher Thomas did a good job,” Williams said. “We wanted to win homecoming for our fans.”
