The rain may fall on Jubilee’s parade, but a little precipitation won’t stop the celebration.
Instead, organizers of the 46th annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee will move key celebrations inside.
Sam Walker, organizer for the event, said the board had anticipated the rain and most events would move inside. The parade, set for 9 a.m. on North Broad, will continue as planned.
If the rain has begun to fall, the Battle of the Bands will be cancelled.
The rain is just about a sure bet at 100 percent, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service in Birmingham as a cold front moves into the area.
Forecasters also say areas of heavy rainfall may result in localized flooding through this evening. A good portion of the area could see 1-½ -to- 2 inches of rain.
Instead of setting up on Water Avenue, vendors will move indoors at the School of Discovery, where the gospel singing will begin at 11 a.m.
Walker said the secular music — rap, blues and R&B will begin at noon at the Old National Guard Armory on West Dallas Avenue.
The venues are expected to return to Water Avenue Sunday after the rain moves out of the region.
