A short film was recently shot in Selma based on events during the Civil Rights Era.
Triauric Films has partnered with legendary gospel singer Dr. Shirley Caesar to release “Through Her Eyes”. The film is making its premiere this week at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.
The film stars Rayven Ferrell as Rosalee Wimbush, as she struggles to find the confidence to attend an all-white high school. Wimbush faces racial injustice and prejudice on the journey and it eventually affects her family.
The short film is loosely based on true life events in Selma during the 1960’s. The film was also shot in Atlanta.
Rounding out the cast are Angela Ray (May Wimbush), Shawn Luckey (Otis Wimbush Sr.) and Michael Rodney (Otis Wimbush Jr.).
“Through Her Eyes” is written, produced and directed by Trenton Lumpkin, a Birmingham native and Alabama A&M graduate. Shawn Luckley is Executive Producer.
Caesar, also an Executive Producer, is a Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter and recording artist with seven decades of recording history in gospel music. Many consider Caesar as the “First Lady of Gospel Music” and “The Queen of Gospel Music”.
