Dallas County Probate Judge and Commission Chairman Jimmy Nunn announced Friday that, in light of the COVID-19 emergency, The Dallas County Courthouse will close its doors to the public begining Wednesday, April 1.
While the rest of the courthouse will be off limits to the public, the Dallas County Tax Collector’s office will remain open until Monday, April 6.
Even though the courthouse will be closed, citizens will still have access to services online.
Tag renewals can be made at www.dallascountyproperty-tags.com, driver’s licenses can be renewed online at www.alea.gov, hunting and fishing Licenses – can be obtained online at www.outdooralabama.com, land and probate records can be searched at www.syscononline.com/remote, property taxes can be paid at www.dallascountyproperty-tags.com and marriage certificates can be obtained at www.alabamapublichealth.gov.
To access recordings or probate court filings, attorneys can call (334) 874-2516 or (334) 876-4830 to make an appointment.
“We are in the early stages of this virus and everyone, not just elected officials, has a role to play in keeping our community safe and healthy,” said Nunn. “We must continue to fight this virus with all the sweat, tears and manpower we have.”
Nunn asks citizens adhere to the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines to stop the virus from spreading.
“We must stay focused and united in defeating this invisible enemy by doing our part; practicing social distancing, limiting and restricting from exposure, practicing good hygiene, keeping our hands from face and complying with CDC recommendations,” he said.
