Morgan Academy nearly overcame a 4-1 deficit, but was not able to do so in a 5-3 loss to Prattville Christian Academy on Friday.

The Senators missed opportunities to score with runners in scoring position in the first, second and seventh innings, but still almost closed the gap.

“We were much better this game than we did the last time we played them,” Morgan coach Jennifer Moore said. “We had some frustrating features in this game, but our girls were able to move on from it and continue to work hard.”

The Lady Senators fell behind 1-0 in the first inning after some errors, but pulled level in the bottom half of the inning.

The Lady Lions again struck in the second inning with 3 runs to pull out front once more.  The score remained that way until Sarah Callin Lewis ripped an RBI single. Callin led the Senators from the plate, going 3 for 5. According to Moore, the Senators (1-4, 1-2) have continued to improve throughout the season.

“We have been getting better throughout the year,” Moore said. “We have been getting frustrated late in games, but this one they stayed focused and ready the entire time. I’m proud of the way they played out there.”
