The Selma Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi on Tuesday awarded $1,000 Kappa League Guide Right Scholarships to local students Bryant Gordon and Edgerrin Moore in recognition of their “outstanding scholastic achievements and community service.”
According to a statement from the group, “Kappa League members are conscientious young men who are committed to upholding moral values and striving to become positive role models and future leaders in our community and nation.”
Both students were ranked in the top five of their respective schools’ graduating classes with multiple academic, athletic and community service awards and recognitions.
Gordon is a recent graduate of Selma High School who served as Kappa League President and plans to attend Mississippi State University (MSU).
Moore is a graduate of Southside High School, who served as Kappa League Vice President and plans to attend Alabama State University (ASU) in the Fall.
“Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. [has] been honored to mentor these young men who have proven to be positive role models in our community and pray for their success as they strive to obtain personal, college and career goals,” the statement concluded.
