Dallas County was in position to capture one of the school’s biggest victories in years.
The Hornets dropped a 24-18 heartbreaking overtime loss to West Blocton on Friday night at Martin Field in Plantersville.
Josh Brown threw touchdown passes to Marquavious Pullom and Carlton Underwood.
Keith Thomas also scored for the Hornets (1-5, 1-2).
Linebacker Markeice Stallworth, the Selma Times-Journal’s defensive player of the year in 2019, had over 12 total tackles for the Hornets in defeat.
Dallas County won’t play until Oct. 9 when the Holt Ironmen invade Martin Stadium in Plantersville.
Dallas County has a bye next week and get a forfeit win over Sumter Central on Oct. 2.
