Kameisha Logan always envisioned opening a law firm in her hometown.

Logan’s dream became a reality Saturday when she held a ribbon cutting ceremony at her law firm on 429 Church Street. Family and friends attended the ceremony at the office of K. Logan Law Firm.

“I feel great, this has always been a dream of mine to open a law firm in Selma,” Logan said. “With your own practice, you have the ability to focus on areas you want to practice and choose the cases you want to take. I feel there’s a need for people who are really going to advocate for clients. I want to help Selma and give back.”

Logan, 26, said she appreciated the support from family and friends. Logan said she already has some cases.

“I have been so blessed,” Logan said. “When I made my mind up to open my own law firm, I got all my office furniture donated to me from filing cabinets, desks, conference room tables. I’m proud to serve my community.”

A 2012 graduate of Selma High School, Logan earned two associate degrees at Wallace Community College-Selma, graduated magna cum laude from Alabama State in two years. Logan later earned a master’s degree in criminal justice at Troy. Last year, she earned a Juris Doctor and Master of Laws in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.

Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, Ward 4 City Council candidate Lesia James and Selma High School Athletic Director Katasha Turner also attended the event.
