The Selma Police Department is asking citizens of Selma not to site see as the area recovers from the remains of Hurricane Zeta. As Zeta reached the Black Belt Region as a powerful Tropical storm, it knocked off power in Dallas County and knocked down trees. The Alabama Power Company is working to restore power in the county.
“This is not the time for site seeing because there are crews working and the residents are trying to navigate through their neighborhoods and it is causing undo traffic in those neighborhoods,” Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said.
As of Monday morning, several Dallas County residents are still without power.
Morgan Academy, Dallas County Schools and Selma City Schools are closed Monday.
