Gospel Tabernacle Church of God spent part of Halloween holiday weekend delivering meals to Selma and Dallas County residents affected by Hurricane Zeta.
The Category 2 Hurricane roared through the Black Belt Region as a powerful Tropical Storm Wednesday night, leaving Dallas County and Queen City residents without power for several days and trees surrounding their property.
Meals were provided by The Gathering Place Restaurant Friday and Saturday under the leadership of Pastor John E. Grayson and his wife, Dr. Cece Grayson. Gospel Tabernacle Church members delivered plates of dinner and breakfasts to those shut-in. Over 100 plates were delivered on both Friday and Saturday.
“A lot of people in the area are still without power,” Grayson said. “Some people don’t have any food. It feels great to do something for the community.”
Grayson said they will continue to serve the community until power is restored in the county.
