The Selma Police Department is investigating a juvenile pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on Veterans Day.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said Selma Police Department officers responded to a call Wednesday afternoon at the 1300 block of Philpot Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a three-year-old child laying unresponsive in the road.
“The driver of the vehicle was on the scene and reported to the police as they were traveling east on Philpot Avenue, the juvenile was standing in the rear driveway of a vacant residence,” Fulford said. “As she continued to drive, the juvenile ran out in the roadway attempting to cross. “
Fulford said the juvenile was pronounced dead by the coroner. The driver or child’s identities were not revealed.
