Valley Grande officials are looking into repairing its baseball fields at the Sports Complex.
Mayor Wayne Labbe and the city council have discussed the subject at the last two council meetings.
Councilwoman Sara Day said there’s plans to resurface the city park. Bubba Holley of Parks and Recreation said he’s waiting on a string of clear days to start resurfacing the infield. He expects to start work on the infield next week.
Councilman Robbie Rose and Holley have discussed repairing the dug outs. Rose said the insurance adjuster accessed the property, but they’re awaiting on estimates.
Holley also said there’s a leak in the roof of the concession stand and continue to seek a roofer to get an estimate on repairs. Labbe said that he wants some electrical work done at the park.
The Valley Grande’s baseball and softball seasons were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Labbe said it’s important to get youth sports re-started in the city.
“We need to get this going,” Labbe said. “Children are climbing up the walls, they need something to do.”
