Selma Purrrfect Pals SPP is once again gearing up for “Mardi Paws”, the group’s annual fundraiser in which they sell traditional New Orleans meals to raise money benefitting the cats and kittens at the Selma Animal Shelter.
Between now and Fat Tuesday, those interested can purchase a $10 ticket good for a meal of chicken and sausage gumbo or red beans and rice served with Cajun cornbread and bourbon praline fudge.
Tickets can be purchased at the Selma Animal Hospital or by calling 334-505-1226.
Delivery is available for prepaid orders of five meals or more.
Meals will be distributed from the Blue Jean Church from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
SPP encourages those interested to act fast- tickets are limited and there will be no sales at the door.
“SPP was created to make sure that the Selma Animal Shelter could continue to offer fully vetted, healthy and lovable cats so that the shelter can have an adoption program,” said SPP Founder Shannon Lynch. “Mardi Paws is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it is so important because it will cover the cost of the upcoming kitten season when shelters are inundated with cats and kittens. Community support is always welcome and necessary. And we cannot survive without volunteers. We are always in need of loving foster homes for kittens that are too young to be in the shelter. The more foster homes we have the more lives we can save.”
“I love fostering cats and kittens knowing that I’m helping to save lives,” said SPP Volunteer Glenda Nichols. “I just wish we had more community involvement. We are so thankful to the volunteers that we have. If you would like to join our mission, please let us know by contacting one of us, calling 505-1226, or messaging our Facebook page.”
