Selma City Councilwoman Lesia James assisted Rural Health Medical Program, Inc. for a neighborhood drive-through COVID-19 and HIV testing on Friday at the Selma Mall.
LaTanglia Williams of LIFT Ministries and Larry Cowan of Black Belt Wellness Center and Selma AIR were also on hand to assist with the five-hour testing of Selma and Dallas County residents.
James, who also works at Selma High School, said it’s part of her job duties since being elected to the council last fall.
“We’re trying to get people back to having a normal life as soon as possible,” James said. “We want people to know that it’s important to get tested. Any life that I can live for someone to get tested I will do.”
James said over 30 cars lined up during the event to get tested.
