A former Ellwood Christian Academy track standout helped Northridge High School win the Class 6A Girls’ Indoor State Track Championship.
Rashni Walker won two events in Class 6A at the AHSAA Indoor track meet with Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa.
Walker won the Girls 60-meter hurdles (8.96) and long jump (17-feet, 8.75 inches) individual championships. The junior was also second in the 60-meter dash (7.96) and fourth in the 400-meter dash (59.67).
“It feels really good to know that I am able to go and compete against great athletes no matter what class they’re in,” Walker said.
With ECA canceling spring sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Walker resumed her promising track career in Tuscaloosa County.
At ECA, Walker was coached by her father, Jeffrey Walker.
Walker won the Class 1A girls 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles several times during her career as a Lady Eagle.
