Two days after a six-run inning led to a Meadowview loss to Southern, the Trojans’ mistakes cost them again.

Autauga Academy took advantage of seven walks anErrors, walks cost Meadowview in lossd five Meadowview errors to pound out a 14-5 road win on Thursday.

“It’s the second game, but we still shouldn’t not be making routine plays,” said Meadowview coach Rick Jackson. “We’ve just got to get all the stars aligned. There’s a lot of baseball left to play.”

The Generals’ big blow came in a six-run fourth inning. Leading 3-1, Chapman Tanner reached on an error and advanced to third with a steal and passed ball. He scored on another error that allowed Garrett Petrunic to get aboard.

J.R. Lowe battled back for a strikeout and groundout. But, as was the case on Tuesday, the worst was yet to come.

“We get two outs and, ‘boom,’ the flood gates open,” said Jackson. “We’re giving too many outs away defensively.”

An Austin Post single brought in Petrunic and Tanner Dismukes — who reached on a walk — and a Cody Naylor double to left-center cleared the bases, bringing in three more.

“We felt like if we could put the ball in play, they’d make a few mistakes,” said Autauga Academy coach Joe Faulk. “It just went in our favor when we did that.”

By inning’s end, the Generals increased their lead to 9-1 and added to it the rest of the way.
