Teenage victim identified in fatal shooting

The Selma Police Department and Dallas County District Attorney Office have identified the teenage victim in a fatal shooting.
Amari Bonner, 17, was shot in the lower back and died at Vaughan Regional Medical Center on Saturday. The shooting started on the 800 block of 1st Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
David Cole, 16, was charged with capital murder. He a preliminary hearing on Monday in the courtroom of Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Collins A. Pettaway. Pettaway left Cole with no bond and he remains in the Dallas County Jail.
Jackson said the second suspect, a 15-year-old is charged with felony murder and will appear before Dallas County District Court Judge Bob Armstrong on Tuesday. The second suspect has not been identified.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford and Jackson said that Cole shot into a car with a group of minors inside near Snack Food Mart.
The SPD is still investigating the incident.
This is the third murder of 2021 in Selma.
