George Beard, Jr., 79, formerly of Selma, passed away March 27, 2011 in Birmingham, AL. Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL officiated by Rev. Bernard Bowden. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Smith and Gaston Mortuary, Birmingham, AL.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bessie Beard; two children, Steven Beard (Jennie), and Remiga Thomas (George); eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one brother James Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
