Fights broke out Tuesday morning at Selma High School.
School officials said the school was placed on immediate lockdown while administrators and staff worked quickly to resolve the issue.
Several parents came to check their kids out of school , a day before Fall Break began.
Members of the Selma Police Department arrived on campus to investigate the incident.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said once school officials handled the situation, most of the officers left.
The campus resumed normal activities until school ended.
SCS Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams released a statement about the incident. None of the students were identified in the incident.
“We did have a fight at Selma High School that is being investigated. The Selma Police Department was called and did come to provide support,” Williams said. “This is an ongoing investigation. We will continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of all scholars as well as provide the supports that are necessary. We will continue to prioritize safety but this is an ongoing investigation to determine that we have the name of every student involved, that contacts with parents are made, and necessary consequences are issued.”
