Vaughan Regional Medical Center, Vaughan Wellness and Fitness Center and the Montgomery Cancer Center Selma location, are raising monies through raffles and pizza sales.

Vaughan sold more than 20 pizzas April 1 to visitors and employees for lunch and dinner making more than $300 within hours. Another pizza sale is scheduled for April 15.

“The hospital will also hold a car wash on April 8,” said Merrill South, director of community relations. “We’ll also have a huge Easter basket valued at $150 being raffled off. “

Vaughan’s Wellness Center will hold a fitness extravaganza sponsored by Dixie 100 radio April 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration is $10 and door prizes will be given. The public can try different aerobic activities such as Zumba for adults and Zumbatomics for children.

Beverly Morgan, registered nurse at Montgomery Cancer Center-Selma, said the activities are great for overall fitness.

“These events are extremely important and help raise awareness for cancer,” Morgan said.

“Zumbatomics is a way for children to get involved in fitness and get an early start on health.”
