The annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee returns to a live format this week.

Events start on Thursday and conclude Sunday afternoon.

The theme is Return to the Bridge; Fight for the Vote.

Former State Senator Hank Sanders, a co-founder of the Jubilee, said a guest speaker will be the Bridge Crossing on Sunday, but he did not reveal the name.

Sunday’s festival is free if you attend Saturday, the price will be $10.

The Jubilee opens Thursday with Mass Meeting, Tabernacle Baptist Church, from 7-9 p.m. with Pastor Cecilia Bryant as speaker.

Several events are on the schedule for Friday:

-Jubilee Golf Tournament at Valley Grande Golf Course, sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, 6:30 a.m. fee: $50

-Education Summit: Virtual Sessions. Speakers & Presenters: Dr. Adelaide Sanford, Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D,VA), Dr. Linda Darling, Hammond, Dr. Ray Winbush, Dr. Patricia Payne, Dr. Robert White III, Dr. Chike Akua, Dr. Joyce King, Dr. Leonard & Rosalind Jeffries, Mrs. Augusta Mann, 9 a.m.-noon.

-Children’s Sojourn, Virtual Sessions, 10 a.m.-noon.

-Protecting the Vote and Combating Voter Suppression Workshop, 10:30 a.m.-noon.

-Defeat Attacks on Voting Rights, Protests and Critical Race Teaching Workshop, 1:30-3 p.m. Both workshops with Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) at Earl Goodwin Auditorium, Wallace Community College-Selma.

-Induction into Educators Hall of Excellence, National Voting Rights Museum, (NVRM) 6 Hwy 80 East, 2:30 -3:30 p.m.

-Mock Trial, Dallas County Courthouse, 105 Lauderdale St. Expert Witnesses: Texas Southern Law School Students -Whether the ban on critical race theory (Black History) is in violation of the 14th Amendment, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

-Public Conversation, “Sound the Trumpet: A Moral Cry for a Moral Crisis” with the Poor People’s Campaign, First Baptist Church, 7-9 p.m.

-Jubilee Parade begins at Concordia College, 2180 Broad St. to Edmund Pettus Bridge on Water Avenue, 8-10 a.m.

-Battle of the Bands, Parking lot of School of Discovery Parking Lot, 10-11 a.m.

-Fight for the Vote March & Rally starting from Brown Chapel over Edmund Pettus Bridge, 2-3 p.m. with Vice-President Kamala Harris,

-Gospel Concert & Bridge Awards: Foot of the Pettus Bridge on Water Ave. Featuring: Brian Courtney Wilson, Jasmine Williams & others Tickets: $10 donation or free admission with Saturday festival attendance, 4-6:30 p.m.
