The timing was perfect for Valley Grande to hold its annual Easter Egg hunt last weekend.
Participants overcame chilly, windy conditions under a bright sun and clear blue skies to catch eggs across the Valley Grande Sports Complex.

Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe and councilwomen Sara Day and Kay Davidson attended and led the way for participants.
The event began at 11 a.m. with thousands of eggs hidden in the thick grass and rolls of hay at the Sports Complex.
By the time lunch hour started at noon, all of the eggs were in buckets and baskets of the kids between the ages of three and 10.
Day, who’s in charge of special events for the Valley Grande city council, said she was pleased at how the event went.
“It’s a great turnout,” Day said. “It was way better than last year. We had to reschedule twice after Easter because of the weather. We have nice weather this year and the Egg hunt is before Easter.”
Labbe and Davidson both said they were grateful with the weather producing a stellar Easter Egg hunt on Palm Sunday weekend.
Other Valley Grande residents assisted with the event.
Northside Baptist Church members Jerry Smith and Kathy Smith were among the volunteers who assisted.
“It was so much fun watching the little ones skip over 30 eggs to go get that one blue egg,” Smith said. “Or even to the second child say to another I didn’t have an a egg with so many on the field and just hand over one.
“The act of kindness. When you have an event with Jesus center focused it always brings love, laughter, acts of kindness, and tons of knowledge about our Lord and Savior. It was not just hunting eggs, all of the kids had a good time doing it.”
