Woodmen Life, Selma Chapter 3 donated to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
The organization donated Mark’s Mart gift cards and two checks that were a combined $750.
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said the donations will be used to fund Project Lifesaver, which outfits those with autism, dementia and other cognitive disorders for tracking bracelets so that they may be easily located in the event they wander away from home.
Granthum added that the DCSO deputies, staff workers, dispatchers and officers at the Dallas County Jail will all receive $20 gift cards
“It means a lot to get donations from the community,” Granthum said. “They support and appreciate what we do.”
Ashley Kitzinger, who works in Community Outreach at Woodmen Life said the organization is a big supporter of the DCSO.
“We donate to first responders every year and we always pick the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office,” Kitzinger said. “It’s our way of saying to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, ‘thank you.”
Buddy Wiltsie of Woodmen Life said Project Lifesaver is one of their favorite programs.
