Lawn Care Maintenance and Park Security Gate were two of the biggest topics at the Valley Grande City Council meeting on Monday night.
Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Jane Harris, Bruce Hughes and Clerk/Treasurer Kim Harris attended the meeting. Councilman Robbie Rose was absent.
The council approved Resolution 2022-144 for the Lawn Care Maintenance. Labbe said that six packets were picked up at City Hall, while two went out by mail.
Thompson Lawn Service was the only company that bid, at $30,400 a year.
The Lawn service contract will begin July 1 and ends June 30, 2023.
Jane Harris and Hughes said there was no update on the Park Security Gate situation. At the last city council meeting on June 6, both Hughes and Harris said they were getting call backs when inquiring about a quote.
In other council news:
-Day discussed the upcoming Fourth of July fireworks, which will be held at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 3.
-Bubba Holley of Parks and Recreation said that the cameras at the Valley Grande Walking Trail and Baseball Fields are out again.
Holley and Labbe said the heavy rainstorm that hit Valley Grande may be a reason that the cameras went out.
The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held, Tuesday July 5 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall. The meeting is moved to Tuesday because the Fourth of July holiday falls on Monday.
