Eight players for Morgan Academy’s softball team play their final games Tuesday night against top-ranked Kingwood Christian Academy.

The Lady Senators lost both games, but played well in the losses, which were 7-0 and 7-3.

“They played loose and they had fun out there,” Morgan head softball coach Jennifer Moore said. “They play better that way and it showed out there tonight.”

After dropping the first game, the Lady Senators fought hard in the second game.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Mandy McQueen bunted to reach first and, after an errant throw, pushed her way to third and was promptly driven in by Amy Austin who slid in safely for a triple on the play.

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Senators again rallied with two runners reaching with two outs and Dee Griffin driving in both runners with a double over the head of the right field.

The end of the season finished the career for the eight seniors that Moore coached for three years.

“This is a great group of girls I have had the chance to work with,” Moore said. “They have made this season fun to coach, just like they have made the last three years fun for me.”
