The Funding Retirement Longevity Bonus remained a top subject with the Selma City Council.

At Thursday’s City Council Work Session, the council members discussed their changes with City Attorney Major Madison.

Councilwoman Jannie Thomas talked about Medicaid. Councilwoman Christie Thomas wanted to know the names of the retirees eligible for the plan.

Madison said the retirees had to be retired by March 1.

City Council President Billy Young said he talked with Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. about the retirees. Young said that Perkins told him that they don’t keep track on the number of retirees. 

Madison told the city council that he would get the information to them in time for Tuesday’s City Council meeting at 6 p.m. at Council Chambers.

In other council news:

Two City Department heads appeared at the work session, Tax Collector Aaron Roper and IT Director John Kinnerson Jr.

Roper discussed the difference between types of properties, city-owned and state-owned properties.

Kinnerson will discuss the city’s WIFI User policy at a meeting on Monday at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

Present at the meeting were: Young, council members Troy Harvill, Atkin Jemison, Lesia James, Jannie Thomas and Christie Thomas.
