The Morgan Academy volleyball moved up a spot in the latest Alabama Sportswriters Association Top 10 poll.

The Lady Senators (11-7) enter Labor Day week ranked third among AISA teams. “I’m excited and happy for the kids,” Morgan Academy head coach Glen Graham said. “It’s a good thing for our players, school and community.”

The Lady Senators are: Keenan Lee McHugh, Brooke Waters, Molly Bohannon, Kylie Calame, Paisley Denmark, McCann Perkins, Lilly McHugh, Margaret McLaughlin, Hadley Verhoff, Brooke Egbert, Lydia Smitherman, Taylor Roberts, Maryn Bergeron, Sarah Grace Holladay, Bailey Brown,  Delaney McHugh, Anna Drew Haugen, Audrey Selby, Emme Albritton and MacKenzie King.

Graham, the Lady Senators’ second-year coach, said the team began building toward this year in April.

“Last season, we talked about earning respect,” Graham said. “They have really worked hard since we started conditioning in April and it is paying off. They are starting to believe in themselves more.

“But I tell them all the time, it’s not where you start, but where you finish. I hope we keep buying, working hard, staying humble and staying healthy.”
