The Dallas County Commission approved the adoption of a new wrecker rotation policy in Dallas County.
A public hearing was held Monday at the Dallas County Commission as County Attorney John Kelly and Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum presented the proposal to the commission.
Granthum said it’s the same plan that the state and ALEA uses.
“This is designed to give the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office more information,” Granthum said.
One of the requirements Granthum said is that the wrecker company must have liability insurance at their offices.
Granthum said the DCSO does a background check on the wrecker companies. They must fill out forms, which are due on October 31 for the process to go through January 1. Granthum said that companies who miss the Halloween deadline will have to wait the next year.
Granthum added that citizens can have their request for a wrecker, provided they meet requirements. He said there are two types of wreckers, big wreckers (18 wheelers) and small wreckers.
After the presentation, the Commission unanimously approved.
