LIFT Ministries and Snow’s Cleaning Service donated Thanksgiving Dinner and supplies inmates at the Dallas County Jail and Perry Varner Detention Center.
Inmates received turkey and dressing, collard greens, sweet potato pie, socks, underwear in addition to hygiene products that included deodorant, toothpaste, soap and hand sanitizer.
All in One Restaurant donated the food, while Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John Grayson provided the hand sanitizer. Dr. Bruce Dozier also contributed.
LIFT Ministries Founder/CEO LaTanglia Williams said she appreciated the donations
“It means a lot because we are giving thanks and giving back to the community,” Williams said. “Giving back to the community, gives you a greater sense of purpose.”
Snow said giving back is a way for him to never forget his past. He was once incarcerated for drugs.
“I was locked up for years, I know what they are going through,” Snow said. “Every little bit helps the inmates. Some of them don’t have hygiene products.”
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum, Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn and Dallas County Commissioner Vivian Rogers also attended the event that also had employees at the Dallas County Jail.
Williams, the daughter of Dallas County Commissioner Curtis Williams and Jerolene Williams, head of the Dallas County Career Technical Center, said she appreciates the support of Granthum, Dozier, and Nunn.
