Dallas County, private schools to dismiss early; Selma Schools to stay in school

In advance of potentially severe weather this afternoon, officials with Morgan Academy, Ellwood Christian, Meadowview Christian, Cathedral Academy and Dallas County Schools have announced plans to dismiss students early Wednesday.
Selma City Schools decided shortly after 10 a.m. they will not dismiss students early.
Morgan Academy will dismiss students at 1 p.m. while all Dallas County schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Ellwood Christian has announced plans to dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Cathedral Academy will let students go home at noon while Meadowview Christian will dismiss students at 1 p.m.
Rhonda Abbott, Dallas County Emergency Management Agency Director, said forecasters with the National Weather Service estimate severe storms could begin rolling into the Dallas County by mid-afternoon.
“Right now, they say our chances for the worst weather will be from around 3 p.m. through midnight,” Abbott said. “But, it could be as early as right after lunch.
Treehouse Learning Center will close at 1 p.m. and Perry County Schools have announced plans to dismiss students at noon.
