The high school basketball postseason in Dallas County starts this week.

While some of the tournaments begin Tuesday with quarterfinal games, the Southside girls will host finals. The Lady Panthers will face either Sumter Central or Greensboro on Friday at 6 p.m.

Keith is in position to host the Area 6, Class 1A finals if the Bears win their semifinal contest against University or A.L. Johnson on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Bears would host either RC Hatch or Linden on Thursday at 6 p.m.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the Southside boys,  both Selma teams, Dallas County squads and Keith girls find a way to reach the finals, which would extend their seasons another week in the Sub-Regionals.

We know that anything can happen in the postseason. Win or lose, we’re proud of the  coaches and players for playing through despite a tornado hitting our area on January 12.
