The Dallas County Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has spent the last several weeks assisting tornado victims in Selma.
Several members of the Gamma Alpha Alpha Zeta chapter have been actively volunteering their services across Selma and Dallas County to residents devastated by the January 12 tornado that directly hit the area.
Zeta member Dr. Denisha Hendricks is navigating the City of Selma Operations Center at the George P. Evans Building. Hendricks is also the city’s Parks and Recreation Director.
Another Zeta, Karen Bailey, with help from her husband, Dr. Boyd Bailey, was instrumental in leading the Dally County Zetas to identify other tornado victims in the county.
Bailey transported supplies to distribution sites in Selma, Beloit, and Orrville.
Other Dallas County members who contributed to the tornado drive are Dr Constance Hendricks, Lynda Blackmon Lowery, Shelly McGee, and Dr. Shelicia Morton -Ford.
“While we are a small chapter, we are strategic in responding to our community’s needs with the resources we have,” Zeta member Dr. Constance Hendricks said.
