Resicum International Chief Operating Officer and co-founder Robert Baird was the guest speaker at the Selma Rotary Club on Monday at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
Baird discussed the new company coming to Craig Field. Resicum plans to invest $1.3 million and bring 70 jobs over a three-year period. Resicum signed a 10-year lease for a 50,000-square-foot hangar on the Craig Field flight line.
“Selma is a centralized place for the work we want to do,” Baird said. “It’s a good location for companies we want to invest in the area. Its an easy place to get to. There’s a lot of good housing in Selma. There’s a lot of skill in this county.”
Baird said Resicum is partnered with three schools: Marion Military Institute, Troy University, and Wallace Community College-Selma.
Baird said five people were instrumental in Resicum coming to Selma: Selma-Dallas Economic Development Authority Executive Director Wayne Vardaman, Craig Field Airport & Industrial Authority Executive Director Jim Corrigan, Wallace Community College-Selma President Dr. James Mitchell, Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr., and Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn.
“Jim has done a good job,” Baird said. “We’re renovating as we go.”
Resicum’s aviation training academy plans to bring avionics training, flight training, and certificate courses for aviation maintenance skill-building. “We look forward to welcoming students from around the U.S. and the world who wish to begin or enhance their aviation careers,” Baird said.
