The rising water level of the Alabama River is expected to cause flooding this week.

A flood warning will be issued Tuesday until further notice, according to the National Weather Service..  They are forecasting minor flooding on the Alabama River, particularly near Millers Ferry Dam, located in Wilcox County.

The Alabama River will rise over the next few days. The river is expected to get three feet higher before cresting at 47.5 feet, just below the moderate river stage at 48 feet. The minor river stage is 45 feet

“Based on the river flooding forecast, it seems the impact will only be minor” a NWS Spokesperson said.

Dallas County EMA Director Toya Crusoe said that low lying areas and roads located near the river  could see flooding. “Depends on how much rain we will receive,” Crusoe sad.

The Alabama River is expected to crest Friday, according to Crusoe.
