Selma City Council names first student of month

Edgewood Elementary School fifth-grader Timothy Anderson is the first Selma City Council student of the month.
The selection of Anderson was announced at a Selma City Council on Tuesday at the Council Chambers.
Anderson received the award alongside his mother, Albertina Anderson.
The capacity crowd gave Anderson a rousing standing ovation after the presentation.
Selma City Council President Billy Young because of his exceptional attitude in and out of the classroom.
“Timothy is being recognized because he has exhibited true Edgewood Excellence by being kind to his peers and respectful to his teacher and other adults in which he comes in contact with,” Young said.
Young continued: “Timothy has shown resilience and grit by working within and outside of the classroom to increase his academic proficiency and growth. Since first grade, his behavior has improved and he always has a smile on his face.”
Edgewood Elementary School Principal, Dr. Margaret Jones and other faculty attended the presentation.
