Governor Kay Ivey is awarding a grant to improve public safety in Dallas County.
Ivey announced Tuesday that the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office will receive $19,517 to purchase communications equipment for its mobile emergency response headquarters.
“In order for law enforcement to successfully keep watch over our communities, they must be well equipped to track and respond to threats as they arise,” Gov Ivey said. “These grant funds will ensure local law enforcement have the tools they need to better protect the public.”
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said that it’s the first time he’s heard about the DCSO getting a grant from Ivey.
“If I get something, I will let you know,” Granthum said. I’ve heard rumors, but nothing yet.”
