A week into spring practices Meadowview Christian School is already bouncing back from their 1-8 record last year.

The Trojans will be in their second year with coach John Glasscock and after the drastic change from a spread offense to a power-based run offense, they look more comfortable according to their coach.

“We feel real good about where we are,” Glasscock said. “We got just about everybody back. We lost a couple of big seniors in Greg Piper and Tyler Perry, but we have a bunch of good skill players and the bulk of our linemen.”

The numbers maybe small this spring, only 25 players have signed on to play, but the numbers aren’t the only things that matter to Glasscock in the early stages of spring.

“We only have 25, but they are our 25,” said Glasscock. “These guys we have out here this year have a great attitude, they love to play and it shows. They have been doing a great job of coming out here and practicing hard.”

The Trojans first week was spent going over fundamentals and installing offensive plays, according to Glasscock, but week two began the change into a more defensive minded approach to practice.

“We are really just starting today,” Glasscock said. “We are going to go out and do some tackling drills and go over defensive formations and then, hopefully, do some Oklahoma drills to end.

“We are going to find out who is going to hit. We already have an idea, but now is the time we can really find out.”

Meadowview will continue practice through next Thursday in preparation for a spring game against Ellwood Christian Academy, who are preparing for 11-man football again after spending a year playing eight-man football.

“Our kids are excited about it and we are excited about it,” Glasscock said. “We just have to keep working hard until then.”
