This Saturday, the people of Valley Grande will be celebrating a special birthday.
From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Valley Grande walking trail, residents of the city will enjoy food, music and games at the eighth annual “Valley Grande Founder’s Day,” to celebrate the founding of the city established in 2003.
Mayor Tom Lee said the original community-wide event is popular with crowds.
“Every year it continues to grow,” Lee said. “This year looks like it will be our biggest yet because of the added features. It’s like a Flea Market venue, with vendors of all kinds. We think the weather will cooperate and we expect everyone to have a great time.”
Patsy Moore, Valley Grande Councilmember who spearheaded the project, said the event is a time for all families in Valley Grande to come out and enjoy one another.
“We have 20 vendors so far,” Moore said. “We’ll have an antique car show, music from the Dallas County High School band and gospel singing. We’ll even have something for the children to do. It will be fun for the entire family.”
Moore said free booths are still available for vendors. For more information call 872-0730 or 872-0104.
