Former Fourth Judicial District Attorney Michael Jackson reacted to the capital murder indictment Austin Patrick Hall, who fatally shot a Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy last summer.

Hall is indicted on three counts of Capital Murder; one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Automobile in the  death of Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Johnson on June 29, 2022. Deputy Chris Poole. was also shot.

Last Friday, Attorney General  Steve Marshall’s Special Prosecution Division, in partnership with the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office, presented evidence to a Bibb County grand jury, resulting in Hall’s indictment on five charges. “Johnson was a great guy and one of the best deputies around,” Jackson said. “It’s tragic he died for no reason.”

If convicted, Hall faces the death penalty or a sentence of life imprisonment without parole for each of the three charges of capital murder. “Hopefully, this case will move quickly through the Court system so that Brad Johnson’s family can get justice and start the healing process,” Jackson said
