Valley Grande will see even more little league post-season action when the 10U softball team will take part in the Dixie Youth World Series in Alexandria, Louisiana in late July. Head coach Andrea Holley said that she is proud of the work that these young girls have put in all season and they deserve to be a part of the World Series with the best of the best of Dixie Youth Softball.

“The 10u girls have an opportunity that most kids don’t get. How many kids get to say they’ve had the chance to play in the World Series, not many,” Holley said. “These girls that are going to the World Series are taking small town Valley Grande, AL and playing against other states in our division. There are many people that don’t realize how big of a deal this is for these girls, at times I don’t think our girls realize how big of a deal it is. The girls just get to continue doing what they love and that’s playing softball.”

All the way up until the team leaves in July the coaches and players will hold fundraisers to raise money for travel. One fundraiser coming up is a cornhole tournament with a pretty nice prize going to the winner. 

“The girls will continue to do fundraisers and accept donations up until they leave for the tournaments. We’re having a cornhole tournament July 1st at the Valley Grande Sportsplex. All proceeds go to the girls to help with travel expenses. Also, we are currently selling raffle tickets for a 36” blackstone grill.”
