Selma City Schools receive Grant from State Office

The Alabama State Department of Education Stronger Connections Grant Program selected Selma City Schools to receive a Stronger Connections Grant.

The $399,122 grant was spearheaded by Dr. Alisa Smiley-Rudolph and  Cheryl Randolph, other members of the of the Academic Support Team, Social Emotional Learning Teams, and Central Office at Selma City Schools. The grant will enable students to receive more mental health and behavioral support which the school has made a main focus over the last several months.

Smiley said that the grant will be used intentionally.

“The grant will provide Selma City Schools with more mental health and behavioral supports for our scholars," Smiley said. “Intentional planning will result in increased parental and community engagement for enhanced wellness of all stakeholders.”
