Mark’s Mart, a Selma iconic store, will be profiled this weekend on Simply Southern TV.

The show will premiere locally Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on WAKA-TV 8 in Montgomery. It will be and rebroadcast on the national cable network RFD-TV on Wednesday, July 26, at 3 p.m. Central time.

“With its specialty meats and fine wines, Mark’s Mart may look like a European market, but it is every bit a Southern institution,”  Simply Southern reporter Melissa Bowman said in a release. “The specialty market, which has been part of the Selma community for over 40 years, carries a variety of Alabama-made products and is known for such culinary creations as the Chicken Swirl. We learned more about this delicacy and why it has earned countless fans in Selma and beyond.”

Mark’s Mart owner Rodney King said it’s an honor being on the show.

“I feel great about it,” King said. “Being on the show helps put Selma on the map and it also helps our business.”
